Not so great
Free bar and nibbles but because of seasonal frivolity the lower band of staff were fired. Now the management face the hang over of making there own coffee.
Recently I was made redundant from a very large blue clip company. I had worked for them for 3 months and was really enjoying it. While I was there I enjoyed all the freebie products and incentives that anybody would in a job like mine. One of the less sexy roles I did was check the fax machines to see they were working. On one occasion I found a fax still laying in the try, being nosey I read it. It was an invoice for the companies Christmas party. (Blimey that’s a lot of Corn Flakes).
I had a great time at the event but I would have felt better as a person (also not hung over) if my employer had wiped out debt in one of the third world countries in Africa. So corporate affairs issues aside I went on with the rest of my job. 1 month later from the party and all was going well, nothing out of the ordinary until my manager asked for a private word.
Due to a company over spend; they had to make budget cuts. That’s how I lost my job. A company that could afford a six figure booze up now can’t afford to keep near minimum wage staff. I wasn’t the only one to go that day.

Does it help to know that Kelloggs has reported a $10m drop in profits for the quarter to January 30th due, they claim, to costs for job cuts at the Manchester (UK) site, higher prices for corn and wheat, and increased advertising spending (Reuters). Poor dears only made $182m profit in those three months.

So now I have to add Kelloggs to the list of "banned breakfast cereals" along with the evil Nestle. Back to the sugar-free, organic porridge from now on - which is probably not a bad thing.
