Shed magazine celebrates first birthday

The Shed magazine - the world's only magazine for people who work in sheds and shedlike atmospheres - has been celebrating its first birthday.

The magazine, produced from a garden office/shed by journalist Alex Johnson, is published bimonthly and looks at lifestyle issues for those working from home, particularly in garden offices but also those in attics, cellars, spare bedrooms, lean-tos and even coffee shops.

Past features have looked at what to wear to homework, what music shedworkers listen to and the importance of plants in a home office. There are also regular poetry sections from The Shed's poet in residence John 'Shedman' Davies and illustrations from top cartoonist Felix Bennett.

After a successful first year which has seen the magazine grow from just 30 readers to nearly 1,000 and with coverage in national media including The Scotsman and The Idler, there is also now a special blog dedicated to the subject at http://shedworking.blogspot.com.

Anybody interested in receiving a free copy of The Shed should email the editor at alex@splashmedia.co.uk
